Linda put it best when she said our 2020 South Powell Divide traverse was a sequel to our 2014 North Powell Divide trip. The two traverses overlapped by two days. Both trips were challenging although the 2020 trip less so because there were no rappels, no glacier crossings, and only one time where we used the climbing rope for belays.
Seven of the eight 2014 participants came on the 2020 trip: Anna, Helen, Linda, Margaret, Patrick, and the two of us. Unfortunately Margaret’s husband Tony could not come in 2020. Joining us for the 2020 trip were Dan and Marilyn. That made us a group of nine which worked well for the helicopter which carries three.
We flew with Oceanview Helicopters (based at the Powell River airport) to Centre Lake and hiked to a logging road above Freda Lake. We took ten days although two of those were spent at Camp 2 in heavy rain.
Following is a video and slideshow of the trip. The video is a Google Earth tour of our route. Thanks to Anna for recording our route with her GPS.
Now the photos. If you expand the photo viewer to full page the “Adventures” menu will stop working. This is because of technical issues with the website software. Pick any other menu item and go to that web page. The “Adventures” menu will then work properly.
