Our Hornby Island vacation home is available for rent May through September. This cliff top, waterfront house has a beautiful view looking southwest across Tribune Bay to the mountains of Vancouver Island. There are many things we really like about the house:
See more of the house on the Vacation House Videos and Photos web page.
Most of our bookings are by repeat customers:
Please note:
The house sleeps six: a master bedroom with a queen bed on the main floor and a large loft with a queen bed and two singles. The loft is accessed using a “ship’s ladder”. There is one bathroom with a shower.
The kitchen includes all the typical pots, utensils, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc. along with a barbeque on the back deck. Guests can take turns washing pots and dishes by hand. The dining and living areas each have seating for six. There is also a table with seating for six on the front deck.
There is an Internet connection with Wi-Fi. There are televisions on main floor and the loft. The main floor television is a smart-TV with direct connections to Netflix, YouTube, and other popular Internet services. (Customers must use their own accounts to access Netflix and other subscription services.) The television also has an extra HDMI connection for customers who want to use their own game players or other devices. (Bring your own HDMI cable.) The main floor has a DVD/VCR combo player while the loft has a DVD player. There are no broadcast or cable television signals available at the house.
Duvets and pillows are provided for all beds. We ask that all guests bring their own bed linens and bathroom/beach towels and to wash them at home. This is to minimize water usage which is a serious issue on Hornby Island. We also ask that guests take their garbage and recycling home with them or to the Hornby Island recycling and garbage disposal depot. Please contact us if any of this is a problem for you so we can make other arrangements.

Recent changes to local zoning restrictions allow us to rent the house only from May through September.
High Season (July-August, Canada Day to Labour Day weekends): $2,500 per week. We only rent by the week during the high season. The rental period is Monday 4:00 pm to Monday 10:00 am. Monday is our turnover day because it is best for our cleaner, it avoids busy weekend ferry traffic, and it allows BC seniors to take advantage of the 100% discount for travelling on the ferries.
Low Season (May, June, and September): $230 per night with two night minimum.
Fees include the 8% provincial sales tax and the 3% resort tax which became applicable to Hornby Island in 2022. We do not charge GST because we are a small operation. There are no additional taxes, cleaning fees, or other charges. Amounts are in Canadian dollars.
Repeat customers receive a 10% discount. Any previous customer who refers a new customer gets a 10% commission credit which can be applied to any future rental by them.
Payments are by cheque or bank transfer.
50% of the fee is due upon booking as a deposit. The house is only considered to be booked once the deposit is received.
For High Season bookings the remainder is due on June 1. For Low Season bookings the remainder is due two weeks before the first occupancy date.
We will refund 90% of all amounts paid for High Season bookings if there is a cancellation and we are able to rent the house to someone else for that period. In Low Season we will refund 100%.
Following is the house availability calendar. If a date shows as booked it means the house is occupied that night.
