Desolation Sound is a very misleading name; it is beautiful area. This was our first trip there. We’ve done many trips with Doug from Toronto but this was our first trip with his friends Nancy and Peter who live in Nelson, British Columbia.
We were the most experienced sea kayakers on this trip although we are far from being experts. Doug had done a few sea kayak trips. This was the first sea kayak trip for Nancy and Peter. All three of them are highly experienced canoeists and sea kayaking is much easier to learn than canoeing.
This was actually a Plan B trip for us. Plan A was supposed to be a two-week canoe trip in Quetico Park, Ontario, Canada. We switched to Plan B because Quetico Park was experiencing severe wildfires.
Our Plan B trip was excellent. We started and ended our trip at the Powell River Sea Kayak company in Penrose Bay where we rented kayaks. Our trip was nine days with four different campsites. Following are video clips and photos from the trip.
Now the photos. If you expand the photo viewer to full page the “Adventures” menu will stop working. This is because of technical issues with the website software. Pick any other menu item and go to that web page. The “Adventures” menu will then work properly.
